Presentation of “Trilingual Terminology in Criminal Proceedings” by Drs. Linda Richardson

On January 25 2024, we had the pleasure of welcoming Drs. Linda Richardson, who presented her latest book “Trilingual Terminology in Criminal Proceedings” to us.

The book highlights the crucial importance of accurate and consistent terminology in criminal proceedings, with special attention to multilingual environments. As an expert in language and law, Drs. Richardson has leveraged her expertise to provide an in-depth analysis of terms and concepts commonly encountered in criminal procedures, focusing on three languages: Dutch, Papiamentu, and English.

Drs. Richardson’s book will serve as a valuable resource for professionals within the criminal justice system in the Dutch Caribbean region. It represents a step forward in the pursuit of clear and comprehensible communication, regardless of the language used in legal proceedings. Her contribution will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the development of multilingual terminology within the legal system.

The NTIC provides support to Ms. Richardson for the section in Papiamentu.
